Former lover tried to molest me .....
Super Star goes to courts

A case where a singer who won the Sirasa Super Star crown was dragged by force and taken with the motive of causing harassment when the victim had gone to town in the company of her mother was taken up at Kurunegala Magistrate's court a week ago.

The petitioner in this case was 22 year old Shanika Madhumali who was the winner of the Sirasa Super Star Season 3 competition in the year 2010
.

She had lodged an entry with the policewomen's unit that the accused had tried to grab her by the arm and take her by force when she had gone to a dress shop in Kurunegala in the company of her mother and was returning. The mother had then pushed him aside and rescued her from the clutches of the accused. She had mentioned that the accused party concerned was known to her and that he was running a car sale. However, the accused party says that the complainant was a former lover of his.

She had also stated that though she had given the vehicle which she received as the gift on the occasion when she was adjudged the winner of the Sirasa contest to this person to be sold; only a part-payment was made. She had finally complained that he keeps on threatening her all the time over the phone saying that he would break up all her love affairs and that if she tries to leave the island, he would take steps to put something in her luggage and thereby get her convicted by the law.

What the lawyers retained by the accused said was that all theses allegations were false allegations and that this young man who was the owner of a car sale in Polgahawela area has no reason to indulge in any cheating and that the vehicle concerned had had been sold with all payments settled and the information conveyed by the petitioner was so done in order to mislead courts.

Lawyers of the accused produced some photos of Shanika Madhumali appearing with the accused and said that the two of them had maintained a relationship between the two for sometime and has had hopes of getting married. However, he had decided to put a stop to their affair and that this complaint had been lodged with the motive of taking revenge from him.

The Magistrate ordered the accused to be released on a bail of Rs. 10,000 and it was decided to call the case on January 30th.
